Don Lewis is the founder of the Wild Hive Community Grain Project, where he has spent decades nurturing a deep connection between farmers, bakers, and the land. His journey began in 1982 as a commercial beekeeper, working with wild swarms to produce local honey. As he explored baking as a way to share his honey, Don discovered the limits of low-quality commodity flour. This led him to start milling his own flour using traditional stone-grinding methods and locally sourced organic grains. Through Wild Hive, Don revives forgotten grains and small-scale milling practices, helping to build a regional food system that values nutrition, flavor, and community. He finds joy in teaching others about the land and the grain they eat, and in creating flour that nourishes both body and soil.
As with all our Saturday Suppers, the gathering will embrace a laid-back, cozy, communal atmosphere where neighbors come together to enjoy great food and a deeper community connection. The meal will be served family-style, encouraging conversation. It's an opportunity to make new friends and strengthen existing bonds. And like our Sunday Harvest Dinner series, all proceeds from the Saturday Suppers directly support our outreach programs.
Before donating, please note that this meal will contain meat, dairy, eggs, and gluten in our main course. Dietary restrictions and allergies cannot be accommodated.
