Earth Day Cupcakes | in Partnership with Cardinal Hayes Home for Children
Our planet is an amazing place, but it needs our help to thrive! That’s why each year on April 22, more than a billion people observe Earth Day as a reminder to protect the planet from things like pollution and deforestation. By taking part in activities like picking up litter and planting trees, we’re making our world a happier, healthier place to live. Here at the farm, we’re observing the day by sharing a delicious project with you! We’re offering a four pack of our Earth Day Seedling Cupcakes with boxes designed by the residents of Cardinal Hayes Home for Children (and the Stonewood Farm team!). The cupcakes will be classic devil's food cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting, finished with an edible “soil” mix of seeds, nuts and cacao nib.
The Cardinal Hayes residents have differing levels of abilities, but nothing inhibits these inspiring young people. With some markers, paints, glue, ribbons, stickers, and stamps (made from extra wheelchair pieces!), we’ll create unique, hand-made designs for the boxes. For this project, the box decorations will be inspired by the great outdoors and nature.
Earth Day Cupcakes will be available for pick-up on Earth Day, Monday, April 22nd, from 3 pm to 5 pm at Marona’s Market in the Village of Millbrook. Please note that you won’t be able to purchase the cupcakes at Marona’s and these are the only hours that they can be picked up.
There are four cupcakes in a box and each box is $25. Cupcakes contain gluten, eggs and dairy and we can not accommodate any special requests for dietary restrictions and/or allergies. All proceeds support the Giving Garden at Cardinal Hayes and our other community outreach programs.
