At Lantern, the menu is shaped by what those relationships make possible, and by Andrea's longstanding interest in the cuisines of East and Southeast Asia as a framework for thinking about local, seasonal ingredients. It is an approach that resists easy categorization, which is part of what has made Lantern so durable.

Gourmet Magazine named Lantern one of America's Top 50 Restaurants and among its best farm-to-table restaurants. Food & Wine Magazine included it among America's 50 Most Amazing Wine Experiences. The News & Observer named it Restaurant of the Year in 2009. What makes those recognitions meaningful is that Lantern has sustained that standard quietly and consistently for over twenty years, without reinventing itself. That kind of steadiness is its own form of excellence.

Andrea is also the author of Cooking in the Moment: A Year of Seasonal Recipes, named one of the most notable cookbooks of 2011 by The New York Times, and a 2011 James Beard Award winner for Best Chef: Southeast. Beyond the kitchen, she has been a clear and serious public voice on food systems equity, including a widely shared TEDx Talk that challenged the food community to extend its care and attention to the farmworkers who make all of it possible.

We hope you will join us for what promises to be a really special evening.
